The number of elephants poached so far this year stood at seven, down from 34 in all of 2019, and 80 in 2018.
But with the country’s borders still closed, domestic tourists and foreigners who are already in the country are the ones expected to visit these sites.
Kenya has announced international flights will resume on 1 August, but the high season is already lost.
Last month, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni said the country expected to loose at least $1.6 billion in tourism due to the coronavirus.
The International Monetary Fund said last month that Uganda’s tourism earnings were expected to fall 54% in the 2019/20 (July-June) fiscal year, and decline 52% in the next year.
The visitors will not go through the recommended 14-day quarantine, for that was suspended last week.
